to all whose parents have not decided to take revenge on you for their mother having forced them to work after o levels, i urge you, be grateful.
seriously. from the moment i step into the company at 9am, i count down to lunch hour at 12. from 1pm on, i count down to 6pm. it is THAT bad.
at least i got transferred to the research dept. okay so we investigate alphabetical charts and brain waves of a 2 year old. AND mozart is playing in the background. thats better than in the warehouse (where i worked for the first 2 days), where you climb ladders holding huge boxes of models of the brain to put back the bloody stock on top of a bloody dusty pile. and sit around scanning bar codes all day, with JAY CHOU blasting from the admin table, courtesy of eric. not to mention ONE NIGHT IN BEIJING. and thanks to the blangadeshi workers before me, the stockroom is in a mess. half the time, to return one pile of stock i end up tidying a whole corridor.
so i guess the research dept isn't bad. we'll be investigating magnetic fields next. although i'm very sure a 6 year old would be interested in the forces of the north and south pole, but whatever. it isn't a bad job i guess. when they have meetings, i get the day off. and they have meetings fairly often. and its air-conditioned. and professor lim stopping in the middle of a chemistry practical to sway to some concerto by bach was quite funny. especially when the chemical in the boiling tube spurted out over some hydroponics.
and for the record, for my exclusive services, i'm being paid 5 bucks an hour.
